Roopa S. Gona

Roopa launched her career in journalism at the University of
Pennsylvania. While studying there, she worked for two fantastic weeklies: Buffalo’s ArtVoice Magazine and Philadelphia Weekly.
She wrote for the food section of Philadelphia Weekly, where she melded her love of writing and her passion for food.

After college, Roopa worked at Gourmet Magazine as an assistant editor. She contributed to both the magazine and the renowned
Gourmet Cookbook. What she learned at Gourmet about the importance of food, she keeps with her to this day.

She left Gourmet to pursue her Master’s in Science at the Columbia Graduate School of Journalism, which she completed in 2007. At Columbia, she developed the new media skills she hopes will allow her to tell better stories in compelling new ways.

Roopa currently lives in New York City. She was born and raised outside of Buffalo, N.Y.
